To understand and explain the present situation of journalism in the world, it is almost compulsory for us to look into the past. We are what we are because we were what we were.
For much of its initial research, the history of journalism was the story of media institutions, great reporters, or media moguls. A major shift in journalism historiography was to consider the broad story of journalism against the whole of human history, to exam the role of journalism in the development of the human species and its civilization. The goal of this course is to help students to learn the methodology of journalism history research and use the method to study history of journalism in different countries.
