This course is designed to help students of foundation programmes to develop skills in academic studies including reading, listening, writing and speaking with emphasis on academic reading for writing skills,academic writing practice and some presentation practice. After learning this course, the students should be able to use skills such as finding relevant materials, taking notes, making reference, paraphrasing and summarizing, essay writing, etc to do basic research in academic English.
This is a 18-week GPA course and the assessment is based on a combined average of 30% course participation, 30% mid-term examination and 40% final test.
