Foundational Speaking

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

 To improve the capacity to project and control pitch, volume, tempo and intonation in order to maximize emotional impact of a speach on a given topic.

 

To become familiar with speaking for a variety of purposes including persuasion, inspiration, entertainment, political unification

 

To be able to put together an extemporarenous, well organized, content driven speech of ten minutes.  

 

To be able to identify rhetorical speaking strategies, propaganda and arguments in notable historical speeches of famous figures such as A. Hitler, John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill,

 

To engage in weekly analysis of the audio and full text of some of the greatest speeches in history.

 

To become familiar with the IELTS band scoring system for speaking and practice with speaking topics.
